Busy!

The last few weeks have been so busy that someone sent me an offer to do my blog posts for a fee, can’t have that, so:

Track days, tracks days, track days! MotoYard had a bunch of track days plus I worked two race weekends and 5 jobs showed up on the same Friday when I was leaving for a track weekend. Things are back to normal now schedule-wise and I should be caught up on shop jobs by the en of this week.

The Memorial Day weekend was big. On Sat & Sun MotoYard was at Streets then we moved to Willow for Monday. Lindemann Engineering worked with 24 clients on Monday, what a day!

This past weekend at Willow with WERA Tony continued to improve on his Ninja and my TZ. Andy won the 250 GP battle and John made a last lap T-9 pass on both the guys he was racing to take 2nd.

Andy still thinks I’m a Fucking Genius and so do a few others.

Claims that Lindemann Engineering’s Ed Sorbo is a “Fucking Genius” may be true.

In WERA racing at Miller Motorsports Park this past weekend, riders supported by Lindemann Engineering won races, set personal best lap times and generally had a great time blasting around a fun, safe track with a great club.

Starting with the youngest: Kenny Anderson took two wins, Heavyweight SB Novice & F-II Novice as well as a second in 125 GP. This was his first visit to Miller. Kenny rode two RS125’s tuned by his hard working Dad, Eric. Both bikes have suspension that has been valved and sprung by LE.

Kenny’s hard working Dad, Eric some how found time to ride his ZX-6R with LE fork valving and had a blast.

Scott Reavey rode his SV650 to a new personal best at Miller of 2:06, 1.5 sec better than last years time! Scott says “Oh yah, I also got my 1st ever win in Lightweight Twins and a 3rd in F-2.” Scott’s forks have been valved and sprung by LE and he has a custom Penske shock by LE.

Team Short Bus’s Andy Kenefick was so happy when he called while driving home that I could only understand a few things he said, like: “I went faster every time I went out.” And “You are a Fucking Genius!” Andy seems to like the job LE did re-valving and re-spring the stock shock on his ‘06 GSXR 750. His forks already had a kit installed with the correct springs, LE adjusted the valving and look what happened. Andy decided to have LE valve his suspension after we adjusted his clickers at a CVMA race and he dropped 5 seconds off his best lap time.

In other news: Albert rode his R-6 with LE valving at a Streets of Willow track day and went two seconds faster than he ever has and with less drama.

About Ed Sorbo: He’s OK with being called a Fucking Genius.

TrackTactics.org

Lindemann Engineering is now the suspension set up guy with TrackTactics.org for their events at Auto Club Speedway aka Fontana.

Our first event with them is this Saturday. See you there!

MotoYard @ Buttonwillow

Yesterday with MotoYard at Buttonwillow I had only 5 clients, all of them repeats. Most of the day was spent with them telling me how great their bikes worked or just riding by giving me the Thumbs-Up. What a boring day…

Emil brought me his bike last week to have everything done to his forks and shock. I did the final clicker adjustments at my shop and excepted to dial it in at the track. That never happened, Emil said it was perfective…

So I went riding myself…

Tariler Ramp Door

Tariler Ramp Door

The trailer that came with Lindemann Engineering had barn doors but I like a ramp door. A ramp kit costs $1500 so I got some plywood and used the parts from the barn doors to make may own ramp door. Almost done.

Graham’s RC-51

Graham’s RC-51

The work on Graham’s RC-51 is done. I rebuilt, re-sprung and re-valved the forks and shock. He gets his old springs back along with the old seals and the cap that covered the shock air valve. I exchange the valving washers so they don’t go back. Shipping the old oil back would be a hassle and I’ve yet to find anyone who wanted it. I paid extra to get good LE stickers that peel off without leaving a mess, that way you can remove them if you like without getting mad at me.

Thanks Graham, enjoy!

The white counter is where I do “Clean” work. The black steel table is for dirty work like engine work, cutting, hammering and welding. To the right of the red vice is my lathe. The gray table if for working on bikes. I use a ramp to get the bike up there.

Fork Spring Info

Fork Spring Info

Spring Rate is the measurement of a springs strength.

Having the correct spring rate for the weight of you and your motorcycle is the foundation of good suspension. With weak springs the suspension will be too far down in it’s travel where it moves slow. You will most likely also have added too much pre-load on the weak spring so the bike jumps back up too fast after a bump.

There are three way I can fix this for you:

$110 for New Spring that my spring guy already makes. I have most of these in stock.

$175 for Custom Springs that my spring guy makes to order.

$75 if I shorten your spring to get a stronger rate.

A spring is just a piece of wire. If you shorten the wire it will take more load to bend it. Therefore, if I make a spring shorter it’s rate will increase.

This photo is of a set of stock ‘09 250 Ninja fork springs. The spring on the right shows the factory end. The spring on the left is the end that I cut.

Cutting springs is just a way to save you $35 and reduce my inventory requirements. If you don’t want cut springs, just let me know.
