Eric & the Trailer

Eric & the Trailer

All the bike prep in the world won’t do you any good if you don’t make it to the track. Race Dad, Eric knows this. When the bearings in one wheel failed after dark on the way to the last race of the season Eric removed the wheel and hub, moved the stuff in the trailer to the other side and made it to the track, slowly, on the three remaining wheels.

A few phone calls the next day and a trip into town, while his son Kenny and I played on the track, and Eric was ready to go to work.

Here Eric is removing the bolts that hold the backing plate in place. He has already cut the inner bearing race off the spindle. A positive attitude is essential for jobs like this because the race gas and lighter are never far away.

Fischer’s first race!

Fischer’s first race!

Congratulations to Bill Wickersham, Fischer Motorcycles and the California State Championship!

Bill Wickersham raced a Frischer MRX 650 V-Twin today at Willow Springs Raceway. It was a banner day for all involved as this was the first ever race of a Fischer MRX anywhere. Bill entered the California State Championship Fourmula-40 Lightweight class run in conjunction with this months regularly scheduled WSMC races. Bill’s 5th place finish today combined with his results from the first two rounds of the CSC clinched the class championship.

The Fischer MRX is an American made Sportbike.

The California State Championship runs in conjunction with one each AFM, WERA and WSMC race in California to crown class and an overall State Championships‘.

EDventure Racing transformed the MRX from a street bike into a race bike.

This project is just getting started. Stay tuned for more results.

1 rider showed up so late he could not ride, but he did crew.
1 rider crashed 1 time.
1 rider crashed 6 times.
One rider got sick and could not do his last stint.
We got 3 wrong front brake levers.
The intake manifold broke.
The clutch cable came loose.
We ran out of gas once.
We got a 5 lap penalty for speeding in the pits.
We started the race with the same tire that did the 24 hour last year + a bunch of sprint races and other riding in the year since.
The outside of the exhaust valve spring retainer wore away so that the larger spring was just flopping around leaving only the inner spring to hold the exhaust valve up.
The exhaust valve touched the piston a few times.

We won our class and finished 2nd overall.

In order to finish first, first you must finish.

Happy Rider

Brian sent us his ’07 Ninja 250 forks after his friend rode it and told him the front end was so bad it was dangerous.  We installed new stronger spring, thicker oil c

Got the new forks on the bike this evening after work.  Wow.  People kept telling me that it would be like a whole different bike but I wasn’t really able to conceptualize exactly how the bike would perform.

I rode for about an hour after I got everything put back to gather to shake everything out and was nothing short of amazed.  I realize now that I had been using my biceps to soak up the energy that the forks and springs should have
been handling.

Knowing how the bike feels now as compared to how I had been riding around I agree with my friend’s assessment that it was downright dangerous.

Thanks for the hard work and if I meet any one else with the same issues I’ll send them your way.

Regards,

Brian

“eXhausted Racers”

“eXhausted Racers”

The “eXhausted Racers” won the M1GP 24 Hour XR 100 Class last year. This year they have a faster bike and have added me to their rider list. Lindemann Engineering has finished with the shock and has started on the forks.

We race next weekend on the Willow Kart Track. It will be my 12th 24 Hour race. Come out and throw water on me!

Bruce wins 6!

Earlier this year I won a race thus giving me race wins in 4 connective decades. My friend Bruce Lind just made 6:

“I crossed the line ahead of Don Roberts in the 250GP class at Miller Motorsports park this past Sunday. That gives me a race win in six decades. 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 11’s.

Really looking forward to the full 23 turn 4.4 mile course at Miller on October 1/2. This will complete my 48th season “on the pavement”!”

Go Bruce! Go!

Bikes 73 & 74

Thanks to Dennis who loned me his 250 Ninja to race at Streets last month where I took 2nd. That made the number of bikes I’ve raced 73. Bike 74 is thanks too Niccole who loned me her 250 Ninja to race at Willow this month where I took 3rd.
